Our March 2014 Zero Waste Business of the Month: Shining Mountain Waldorf School!
Shining Mountain Waldorf is a private school that is certified Zero Waste as part of Eco-Cycle’s larger Green Star Schools program for public schools, which also qualifies them as one of our business clients!
This community takes Zero Waste to a whole new level, going above and beyond to make sure each and every meeting and event is 100% Zero Waste. In their meeting hall, all food scraps are composted and students bring reusable containers from home in their lunches to reduce waste! Paper towels and tissues are composted throughout campus. For events, they provide Zero Waste stations and require vendors to offer only compostable products.
They also go out of their way to recycle hard-to-recycle items like unusable laptops, monitors, copiers, printers, and even small appliances at the CHaRM. They also provide Zero Waste education for students, staff, and even parents with Eco-Cycle’s most recent guidelines for recycling, composting and the landfill.
Keep up the great work, Shining Mountain!
