Holiday Tree Recycling

Thank You's!
Choose a Live Tree This Holiday Season
This year, instead of buying a tree that ends up in the landfill or as mulch, buy a live tree that will continue to help the environment once the holidays are over. Many nurseries throughout the county sell living, potted evergreen trees that can be placed indoors for a short period, then wait outside for spring planting.

The City of Louisville is giving 50% rebates (up to $50) for live trees donated to the City after holiday use. Call 303-335-4735 for details. Louisville Parks and Recreation (303-666-6565) is also providing vouchers for 20% discounts on live trees purchased from Treehouse Nursery.

Holiday Tree Recycling

Many communities are organizing drop-off areas for trees that are completely clean of any tinsel, ornaments or other decorations. Trees will be mulched. There are no curbside collection programs for recycling trees.

Boulder: Residents can recycle their trees at the City’s Yard Waste Drop-off Facility located at Western Disposal (5880 Butte Mill Rd.), in the winter months on Monday through Friday, 7:00am-5:00pm and on Saturday from 7:00am-2:00 pm. No flocked trees, tree stands, wreaths or other hardware is acceptable.

Broomfield: Residents can recycle their trees from December 21st through January 25th. Trees may be dropped off at any time during this period at three locations: Community Park, Bronco Park, and LocAmora Park. Mulch from the trees will be available free to residents following the collection program. For more information, contact Tom Wells of Broomfield Public Works: 303-464-5663.

Longmont: The City will offer tree recycling from December 26th through January 6th. Trees may be dropped off during this period at the Tree Limb Diversion Center (140 Martin St.). For further details, call Longmont Public Works at 303-651-8416.

Superior: The Town will offer tree recycling starting on December 26th and continuing through January. Trees may be dropped off at any time of day during this period at the hockey rink parking lot on the corner of Coalton Rd and Indiana St. Free mulch from the trees will be made available to Superior residents through January at the same site. For more details on Superior’s Holiday Tree Recycling Program, call the Metro District Offices at 303-987-0835.

Louisville: The Louisville Resource Conservation and Advisory Board is sponsoring a cut tree drop-off and mulching program for residents of Louisville. Trees may be taken to the collection site just north of the Louisville Cemetery off of Empire Road, Monday through Saturday from 8:00am-3:00pm throughout the month of January. For more information, call the Louisville Parks and Recreation office at 303-666-6565. Mulch produced from the trees will be made available to Louisville residents free-of-charge. For a small fee, Scout troops in the area will provide a pick-up service for your tree. For more information on the program, call the Louisville Recreation Center at 303-666-7400.

Lafayette: The Lafayette Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring its annual tree recycling program for Lafayette residents. From December 26th through January 31st, untrimmed trees may be dropped off at two locations: City Shops, 1700 Avalon, Monday-Friday, 6:00am-3:00pm; and LaMont Does Park, 500 S. Boulder Road, open 24 hours, seven days per week. Drop-off is free, but please remove all tinsel, nails, and ornaments. No flocked trees, wreaths, garlands, yard waste, tree trimmings, or garbage. For more information call 303-665-5588 ext. 3701.
